Measurement of Colliding Beam Parameters with Wide Angle Beamstrahlung

where the N1,2 and σx,y,z are the beam populations and spatial dimensions at any given time t (which is a run-time variable of order one hour). This formula becomes rather complex over time. Particles are deflected by the other beam at each crossing, significantly affecting the Twiss matrix of the machine. The beam currents Ni(t) decrease due to beam lifetime also causing the machine’s Twiss matrix to drift. If the machine is perfectly symmetric, the transverse dimensions will change but the beams will maintain perfect overlap.
